Does Methylpred Cause Elevated Blood Platelet Count?
Can Methlpred 4 mg Trigen raise ones platlets. My husband is taking chemo treatments and now he has gout in his hand. His platelets were 103 thousand at his last treatment. Today I had him to acute care and was diagnosed with gout and his platelets were only 77 thousand.. he his scheduled for chemo this coming Wednesday.. Will this drug raise the platelets?

During chemotherapybone marrow production of blood cells reduced drastically. This is why his platelet count is reduced. Methylpred can help to some extent but drastic improvement will not be expected. You can continue chemotherapy as low platelet count is not at all a contra-indicated
for continuing chemotherapy.
