Does Minocycline Intake Lead To Frequent Burping, Stomach Pain, Nausea And Anxiety?
My daughter has been on minocycline for 2 months and is now burping frequently, has lots of stomach pain, nausea. She is also prone to anxiety at times and it is much worse lately with a rapid heartbeat. Could they be medicine side effects or thyroid issues related to the medicine?
Yes these are very common side effects of minocycline. But you have written anything why she is taking minocycline. If you would have written then I could have suggested any alternative. These are not permanent side effects and will resolve after stopping minocycline. Rapid heartbeat might be due to anxiety. If you have doubt about thyroid related issue then you can get it investigated by simple laboratory test (serum TSH and T4). Advice 1. Continue minocycline as suggested. If side effects are intolerable then you can contact your doctor for change of medicine. 2. Take minocycline after meal 3. Avoid spicy food and non-steroidal pain killer 4. She can take ranitidine 150 mg every 12 hours after food for 7 days 5. Investigation – serum TSH and T4 You can write next time with result of serum TSH and T4. I hope this information will help you. I will be happy if you ask another question Thank
