Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband had a stroke 1 year ago and had bladder control problems. He was put on Myrbetriq one month ago and seems to be getting slower with walking with his walker, Has started to lose his balance and has fallen 3 times this past week. could this medication have any side effects of this sort. Had an MRI 2 weeks ago ...no new bleeds and blood work looks fine.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Myrbetriq is a brand name of drug “ mirabegron”. It is a commonly prescribed drug and it won’t cause balance disturbances. It could be due to some other causes and stroke can be a probable cause. Other possibilities are inner ear disturbances like vertigo which is common in older age group. As of now you can try betahistine tablets twice a day for symptomatic relief. If symptoms persist, better to consult a neurologist and get evaluated.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
