Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been diagnosed with NAFLD through a CT Scan and I have had mildly elevated liver enzymes for several years. I am not obese, I am 5 4 and weigh 116 pounds and I am 56 years old. I had a fibroscan performed and the score was 7.3. Does that indicate fibrosis in my liver and if so how much?
Fibroscan is a non-invasive way of measuring livercirrhosis. Though it is not very accurate still tell a lot about liver cirrhosis.
A score of over 7 indicates that there is significant fibrosis in the liver. Though we can not exactly quantity, there is significant fibrosis.
The more is the score, the more is the fibrosis, a score of over 14 indicates cirrhosis. NAFLD is a common cause of cirrhosis, but only very few people with NAFLD develop cirrhosis. Weight loss is the best treatment so far.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman,
