Does Norethindrone Help In Delaying Periods?

I'm going on vacation and I asked my doctor to prescribe me norethindrone to delay my period for just a few days. She gave me Nora-Be tablets .35 mg one a day for 28 days. Will this dosage be enough to delay the cycle? When should I start taking them?

Thanks for contacting HCM with your health concern

1. Nora Be [norethindrone] is called aas mini pill because it doesn't contain estrogen and apart from preventing pregnancy it also stops the release of egg [ovulation] during woman's menstrual cycle but keep in mind that using this medication doesn't protect you or your partner from sexually transmitted diseases

2. Take this medication exactly as prescribed and may need to use back up birth control such as condoms/spermicide and make sure not to skip/miss a single dose and if that happens make sure to take the missed dose as soon as you remember but if its time to take the next dose skip the missed dose and take the medicine at the next regular scheduled time since missing the pill increases your chances of becoming pregnant

3. use of hormonal pills increases chances of blood clot so tell your doctor about any unusual or bothersome side effects.

4. take this medicine once daily at the same time each day and is best to take this medicine on the first day of your menstrual period, if started on any other day use an additional form of non-hormonal birth control (such as condoms, spermicide) for the first 48 hours to prevent pregnancy until the medication has enough time to work.

PS. start a new pack when the last pack finish [if want to continue further] and remember there is no break between packs during which your periods may be irregular, or heavier/lighter than usual and you may also have vaginal bleeding (spotting) between periods. Do not stop taking your pills if this happens.
