Does Norplant Birth Control Cause Chronic Pain And Autoimmune Disorders?

Hello I used the Norplant birth control system for 4 years from the ages of 22 to 26. I am now 44 and was deemed completely disabled over 2 years ago. Chronic pain, a number of autoimmune disorders, osteoarthritis. I was wondering if there has been any reports of the possibility of a connection? Thank you Connie L.

OBGYN, Maternal and Fetal Medicine 's  Response
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Norplant is a progesterone implant and is given for contraception. It has no side effects like autoimmune disease, osteoporosis or osteoarthritis.
These conditions are unrelated to the norplant implant.
I would suggest you to consult a rheumatologist to get properly examined, investigated and treated accordingly.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Wishing you good health.
