Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mother in Law is suffering from bi polar disease for last 40 years which is getting worse now. For last 8 months she is not coming out of her attack and is now famous as a mad woman in the colony. Doc has given 5 mg Oliment as SOS for sleep, which we are giving her daily. Will it sedate her or do we need to reduce the dose as doc had given it SOS only .
Olimelt consists of olanzapine and it is a atypical antipsychotic. It has very good sedative effect and you can give her regularly if she has underline psychotic or manic symptoms. That would keep her calm and help to control her symptoms. In case, you need further help, you can ask.
Thanks
