Does Omeprazole Cause Severe Pain In The Upper Abdomen?

I started taking 20 mg Omeprazole bid about 10 days ago for gerd that was no longer being controlled by otc Zantac. Last night I developed a intermittent intense pain in my upper left abdomen. No other symptoms aside from decreased appetite. Is this pain a side effect? Should I stop taking it?

Omeprazole is normally prescribed in case of gerd and in case of pain due to ulcers. I have never seen such sideeffect of omeprazole. Its probably because of some other reason.
