Does Oxistatin Help In Curing Staph Infection?

My family Doctor diagnosed me with a male yeast infection from too many antibiotics. I have taken prescribed medicine for 3 weeks and it slowly got better but not cured. The ER Doctor prescribed Oxistatin cream and it cleared up. But right before the cream treatment a dermatologist took a culture, they called me today and said that it is a staph infection and I need antibiotics. I am confused, did the cream cure it or mask it?
