Does Prednisone Cause Elevated Blood Sugar Levels?
My husband has gout. His doctor prescribed 50 mg of Pregnisonne for 5 days. He has type 2 diabetes. His blood sugar before he ate dinner was 320 from 93 this morning. Do you think the cause of his blood sugar spike was the Pregnisonne? I told him to call his doctor tomorrow and told him to stop taking this drug . Please advise. Thanks. Mariles

welcome to hcm..hi marles ..yes you are right ..prednisolone causes high sugar level ..usually steroids are given for a very short span of 4 or 5 days to control inflammation but you should request your doctor to prescribe some other drug as diclofenic aceclofenic or lornoxicam ..as
