Does Prednisone Cause Weight Gain?
Diagnosed Wednesday with pneumonia, recd 5 day zpack Rx from urgent care. I am 71 and went to doctor on Friday for follow up. I was already breathing well without chest pain. The doc I saw gave me 10 mg Rx for prednisone and 10 days of amoxicillin. Seemed like a bit much to me when I m doing so well. Question is Does prednisone cause weight gain? I don t seem to be eliminating as much water as I am drinking. Never done this before. Friend didn t tell me it cost. Sorry

Prednisone is used in extreme infection/emmwrgency for quick control.
Predisone does cause increase in weight due to water retension. ...this comes back to normal after withdrawal of prednisone.
If you observe very scanty urine out put.. report it to your treating doctor soon.
