Does Prolia Cause Any Side Effects In A Patient With Spinal Degeneration?

I am trying to decide if the drug Prolia would be beneficial to me. I am presently taking Evista for bone loss. I would like to know something about this drug... side effects etc. I have been told that I have severe spine deteriation and was wondering about switching to this drug.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Prolia contains denosumab that is used in the treatment of osteoporosis. Prolia may cause bone, joint pain or muscle pain. Rarely it may cause sciatica. Otherwise Prolia doesn't cause any side effects in a patient with spinal deteriation. You should not stop taking this medication with consulting your doctor first for medical attention.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if can assist you further.

Regards,
