Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am bring referred to an orthopedic surgeon regarding bone loss. I have been injected with prolia for two years, and my doctor says my bones are not being helped enough by that product and is thinking of Reclast. I have read the reviews and am not happy with what I read. Also, I have heard that it causes early onset of loss of memory.
There is no documented evidence of Reclast causing memory loss. Prescribed commonly in the treatment of osteoporosis, the most common side effects of Reclast include irritation and inflammation of the esophagus ('food pipe'), esophageal ulcers, diarrhea, osteonecrosis of the jaw, atypical subtrochanteric ('stress-like') fracture, decreased serum calcium levels and kidney impairment. Therefore, it may be taken safely under the supervision of your doctor.
Hope I have answered your queries. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
