Does Seroquel Have The Same Effect As That Of Abilify?

Hi, I have anxiety and depression and obsessive scary thoughts and feelings and in the past Prozac and Zoloft and paxil have worked pretty good for me but the paxil stopped really working so they added abilify and I practically crashed after 2 weeks on it. They have switched me to fluvoxamine which after 5 weeks things still aren t right and I m still having anxiety and just not feeling right, now he wants to add serequel to it to see if it helps me feel better! Do you think where the abilify made things worse in the past that serequel will also make things worse?

Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. Seroquel is Quetiapine and the drug is an antipsychotic drug of second generation. Abilify is also an antipsychotic drug of same group of drugs. You have anxiety disorder and drugs like Prozac, Zoloft or Paxil are not resulting proper relief so they started Ability which is Aripiprazole. The drug caused worsening of symptoms. Even both Abilify and Quetiapine are from same group still if you failed to tolerate Abilify this doesn't mean that your would not tolerate Quetiapine. Quetipine is an antipsychotic that causes sedation if we compare it with Ability so is better tolerated. So in my opinion start taking Quetiapine as per your doctors advise and the drug would help you.
