General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear Jack,
Simvastatin is sometimes associated with rhabdomyolysis. This is a condition defined as damage to muscular tissue. The symptoms are the ones you are reporting.
If you were at my clinic, I would suggest to measure myoglobin levels in blood and urine. Proving this to be the cause, I would switch to another statin.
But you need to see a doctor for this. I cannot help with prescriptions.
I hope I have helped you to understand your condition better.
Wish you good health!
