Does Sulfasalazine Interact With Ibuprofen?

i am on sulfasalazine and am taking ibuprofen for pain, today my doctors office called and told me i could not take the two together, my hemoglobin has been low and is continuing to stay low. i had had diseminated histoplaymosis in 2014 and have been struggling with feeling bad ever since, i battle elevated crp levels and elevated sed rate constantly, i also test positive for hlb-27, i am seeing a rheumatologist, he says he is treating me as if I have ankylosing spondylitis, but has not diagnosed me with it, i also struggle with chostochondritis but sulfasalazine seems to help that

Hi,

Ibuprofen interacts with sulfasalasine causing liver damage. You should talk to your doctor to lower the dosage of ibuprofen. It may cause sudden weight gain, water retention, lower urination, nausea and vomiting. Changing Ibuprofen with another alternative drug may be a good idea.
