Does Tizanidine Affect The Alcohol Level In The Body?
Hello, this may be the wrong place to ask this but I figure I would start here. I recently got into an accident that I was not at fault for and was prescribed 4 mg of Tizanidine three times a day. Last week I was unfortunately pulled over and cited for a DUI . I did have a couple beers earlier in the night but feel like the breatherlizer reading was extremely high considering what I know I had . My question is there any way the tizandine could of caused the alcohol level to have been higher ? Any knowledge on this would be greatly appreciated or if there is another site you could recommend that may be more suited for the question would be appreciated as well.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Tizanidine has got no interaction with alcohol and it does not affect the alcohol level in body. However, Tizanidine is a centrally acting drug and this alcohol may potentiates it’s action, so it is always better to avoid alcohol while you are on Tizanidine.
Wishing you good health.
Thanks!
