Does Trepiline Prescribed For Spastic Colon Have Any Side Effect?

I my doctor diagnosed me with a spastic colon and prescribed trepiline and said even though it may be a anti-depressant it has shown to help with a spastic colon in women… so I would just like to know is this true or not as this drug side effects may be constipation and weight gain only to name a few... can you please give be advice on this
