Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Does Velcade Cause Severe Fatigue And Breathing Difficulty?
my husband has multiple myeloma cancer. he underwent stem cell transplant four years ago. recently he was restarted on Velcade injection and has ended up in the hospital twice, two months apart. he has weakness to the point he can not stand himself, trouble breathing, low sodium, back pain, rash and more. is this a new allergic reaction to Velcade?
Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Velcade is having bortezomib. It is monoclonal antibody against proteosome receptors. So it is used in multiple myeloma. It can cause immunosuppression. So allergic reaction is quite possible with this drug. And his all symptoms are suggestive of allergic reaction more. So better to discuss with oncologist about possible allergic reaction and substitute this drug.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
