Does Warfarin Cause Pain And Weakness In The Legs And Lower Back?

I take warfarin 5mg 1/day for A Fib. What does warfarin contain that would cause my legs and lower back to be achy and weak? I have this discomfort/pain only when standing/walking, not when I am laying down. I feel very strongly that warfarin is the culprit, but don t know if my doctor will agree. Is there an alternative blood thinner that doesn t have these side affects. Thank you for your help. Mary Peterson

Hi,

From your description, I am of the opinion that warfarin should not cause such symptoms but if the patient is feeling such problems while using, you can change it to Heparin sulfate. Aspirin can also be used as a replacement.

Although these medications should be taken after reference with your treating doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
