Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My friend is frail 101 lbs 62 in and 70 yo. Being treated for chronic heart failure, failure to thrive, and currently seizing. Prescribed 200 mg Wellbutrin x 2 per day. Poor appetite, weakness in legs and fall risk protocol. A contraindication for Welbutrin is anorexia and bulimism. How likely is it that wellbutrin is contributing to seizures?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Welbutrin is associated with seizures. We always assess patient and ask about fits when we prescribe this drug. If fit has occurred, the recommendations are to stop Welbutrin immediately. You should talk to your doctor in this regards.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman
