Does Zantac Help In Alleviating Heart Attack Symptoms?

I have had previous issues with chest pains in the past. Each time I went to the ER and they did the test and is was not heart but abdominal. (Ulcer) Its been a few years since the last time but it started again last night. I picked up some Zantac today and have taken two one at 10:30AM this morning and another around 9:00PM tonight. Both times I took the Zantac symptoms calmed down. Of course even though I have a history its still disconcerting. Would the Zantac calm the symptoms if it was a heart attack?

Hello,

Zantac is a H2 blocker drug that helps in alleviating symptoms of gastric irritation pain. Zantac can't reduce heart related pain. As your pain got relieved with Zantac, it's most probably a peptic ulcer.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
