Does Zestril Cause Rashes On The Back And Abdomen?
Husband is on Zestril 20 mg. and Amlodipine 10 mg. for high BP. BP was slightly elevated, so his Dr. told him he could increase the Zestril to 30 mg. qd. The last few weeks he has suddenly developed hives on his back, lower abdomen, and groin area at times. It seems to be getting worse tonight. Took two Benadryl 25 mg. and seems to be relieving the itching and the hives are somewhat better. We have tried changing soaps, watching what he eats, and making sure we had no bugs. Can the Zestril cause hives? This seems like the only answer is the Zestril causing the hives.
Hi thank you for querry. As side effect of zestril is cincerend it may cause skin rashes to 1-2% of patient along with photosenstivity and immune hypersenstivity reaction it may cause the angioedema in severe reaction face and lips swelling along with respiratory difficulty. antihistamine and prednisolone may decrease the reaction. but you consult your doctor for dose adjustment or switch to another gruop of antihypertensive agent. hope the answer will help you regarding the problem.
