Does Zoloft Help With Sleeping Disorder?

Can zoloft help with sleeping too? I currently take trazadone at night and it has been working. Recently I met with my family Dr. and he prescribed zoloft for me because I have been undergoing some medical problems that have changed my life some what ( i am very active and had a knee replacement that did not go well. It has been a year and I am still dealing with tests, wearing a brace, pain in the knee etc... plus my brother was diagnosed with cancer). All of this ismaking me depressed and he recommended zoloft. I haven t taken it yet for fear that I won t sleep.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Zoloft can provide you with adequate sleep, but it will not cure the depressive symptoms.

You can consult a psychiatrist and start on antidepressants for best results.

Avoid unwanted stress and anxiety. Relaxation techniques like yoga and meditation can help a bit.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
