Does A TPHA Serum Result Indicating The Presence Of Antibodies Against The Treponema Pallidum Bacteria Mean I Have Syphilis?
Hi ma’am , I have got a result of 1:80 for tpha serum and the result shows positive from metropolis lab , does that mean I have syphilis ! I am really worried and need to know urgently pls What further should I do ? Are there more tests to be done to confirm the issue
Your result of 1:80 for TPHA means presence of antibody has been found but TPHA test does not confirm if syphilis is active right now. Do not to panic or get upset as syphilis can be cured with penicillin in its early stages. A positive TPHA shows exposure to syphilis, but it is urgent to confirm if it is active or not. Please don’t delay, early confirmation and treatment are effective.
Get clinically examined by dermatologist, venereologist, or infectious disease specialist with your report. You need to get done VDRL/RPR to know if it’s active. If confirmed, syphilis is curable with antibiotics (penicillin-based treatment). You may have to get done FTA-ABS test also if VDRL/RPR test comes positive. Please don’t panic; even if active syphilis is found, it is completely curable with the right antibiotics.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
