Does A Deep Cut On Foot From An Oyster Require Medical Attention?

Hi there, 2 days ago i cut my foot on an oyster quite deeply (the cut is about and inch long and 1/4 inch deep) i ve hired crutches as i am unable to walk on my foot. It has swollen up and every now and then starts to bleed again. I m not sure whether i should seek medical attention or if these are just symptoms and signs of a deep cut.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have deep cut on foot from an oyster with swollen foot and unable to walk. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like allergic reaction , some sea animals release toxin during bite or infection . I would suggest you to wash your wound with betadine solution several times , keep it clean , take over the counter antihistamine like benadryl , take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain and drink plenty of water . Consult general practitioner for proper diagnosis and treatment without any delay to prevent the spread of infection and condition like anaphylaxis . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics along with anti inflammatory or immunosuppressants . Doctor may incise the dead tissue or may give adrenaline .
