I was just diagnosed with mastoiditis. I m not aware of any chronic or acute ear infections in my history. I am 57 and excellent health, but with a 1in a million diagnoses of chronic recurrent multofocal osteomyelitis. Anyway, in July, strong friends were moving my 300 lb. treadmill. It was not a team effort. The treadmill was violent swung. My head got crushed, on the right, in front of my ear; on the left, in back of my ear. I ve had some clear CT scans since, up until this mastoiditis manifested in Sept on a flight descent into Kennedy airport. Excruciating pain and profound loss of hearing in my left ear! A couple misdiagnoses of, oh, it will clear up soon, it s just an ear infection, and now mastoiditis. Started Clarithromycin yesterday for 21 days but I have an intuitive sneaky feeling it could be related to the head trauma. Would appreciate your thoughts.
