Does A Head Injury Cause Severe Intoxication After Alcohol Consumption?
good day. I have a question about possible head injury, or traumatic brain injury. someone had blows to the forehead during 2015. The skin on his forehead torn open, so much so that you could see his scull. however, he went to the hospital and was only stiched. But this person has changed alot, in the sense that when he does use alcohol on occasions he seems to get very fast intoxicated and very strange behaviour. please advise if there is a problem related to the blows to the head. kind regards lynne
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per your description it is clear that the head injury occurred almost three years back, They had not taken a CT scan. Even if there was an injury, it would have resolved by this time. You can take an MRI scan for any residual injury. Alcohol can produce more adverse effects in a person with a previous history of possible head injury, a person with a previous head injury can be intoxicated easily when compared to a normal person.
Hope I have answered your query.
Wishing you good health
