Does A Hiatal Hernia Cause Nausea, Dizziness And Abdominal Bloating?

Am a 65 yr old female diagnosed with GERD, lactose intolerance, gluten intolerance and have a hiatal hernia so am pretty careful about what I eat. In the past week I ve developed pretty consistent bloating - comes and goes - just below my sternum, get nauseous, shaky/dizzy and breathing feels a little labored. Could this be the hernia getting worse? or something else?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

A hiatal hernia means a normal body organ comes out through weak openings. Which can lead to a gastrointestinal disturbance like nausea because there is a valve-like a mechanism which disrupts and acid reflux and nausea can occur. Flatulence may be due to lactose intolerance or indigestion.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
