Does A High RBS Cause Problems In Pregnancy?

Hello doctor, I got my blood report and found rbs was 130.0 mg/dl. So any problem with this and wt precautions to be taken to make it normal..kindly suggest doctor. Now by 12th of this month I will be completing my 7th month. And also in 22-23 week I found intracardiac echogenic focus noted in ultra sound scanning. My doctor told me it was dark spot in the babys heart and no need to worry about that she said. So any problems with all these. Thanks Satya k

Hello Satya and welcome.

A dark spot in the region of the heart is seen quite often, and all fetuses with such a presentation in my experience have been born normal and perfectly healthy. As for the elevated RBS, this will certainly have to be tackled. Gestational diabetes is a major issue during pregnancy and will have to be avoided. For now, you will have to keep off sugar as much as possible and follow your doctors orders to ensure a safe and uneventful pregnancy. Other than this I cannot comment further, as your doctor will decide after further monitoring, whether or not you may require medications to control your blood sugar levels.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.
