Does A Lump On The Shin Post Injury Need Medical Attention?

I fell through some rotten wood on some metal steps i hit my shin realy hard which Hurt knocked me sick and light headed and immediatly a large lump appeared however the lump reduced in size within the hour to a smaller swollen lump .I can walk on it should I get it checked or will it be ok

Hello,

Very likely it will be ok and the lump will be gradually getting smaller but to be sure I would recommend you to have it checked to make sure there is no foreign body in the lump.

If there is a piece of wood in the wound, maybe the doctor will need to remove it. Foreign bodies in wounds may cause them to get infected and not allow them to heal properly.
Your doctor may also advise you to have the tetanus prophylaxis if the wound seems very contaminated or badly crushed.
