Does A Milky Discharge From The Nipple Denote A Pregnancy?
Hi, me and my husband have been trying to get pregnant and as of now my period is 8 days late. I took a test on the 2nd day and today both said negative. Last night I noticed a milky discharge from my nipple when you put pressure to it. Could I still be pregnant and should I try a different brand of test?
The most likely explanation for a delayed period and negative pregnancy test is because you either did not ovulate or ovulation was delayed. Most women ovulate around day14 and get their next period on day28. There are many causes of delayed or absent ovulation that include thyroid disease, diabetes and elevated prolactin levels. Prolactin is normally produced during pregnancy and breast-feeding and can lead to a milky discharge from the breast. Go to an OB/GYN and get this checked out!
I hope that this helps and good luck! Dr. Tim
