Does A Missed Dose Of Contraceptive Pill Lead To Pregnancy After Sex?

I take the combined contraceptive pill and had sex. afterwards i realised I missed my pill from the day before. I immediately took that one and the normal days one too. This was on the 10th day of my new pack. should i be worried? it was just the one pill i missed.

Hello,

Yes, missing even a single pill can lead to contraception failure and pregnancy. If you have missed a pill always use an alternative form of contraception like a condom for at least 2 weeks.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal, General & Family Physician
