Does A Nicotine Patch Cause Metallic Taste In The Mouth?

For the past few days I get a mettalic taste in my mouth after I eat. Does not matter, what I eat, I get that weird taste right after. The only thing different in my life in the past 20 days is quitting smoking. Could the nicotine patches be causing this?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Yes, it is seen in some patients that using Nictoine patches can cause metallic taste in mouth..

Although it is temporary and gets better with time as the body adapts to the changes..

For now to mask the bad taste you can chew flavoured sugarfree chewing gum.
Gargle with flavoured mouthwash..
Clean your tongue daily using a tongue cleaner..

If the symptoms does not get better or increases in severity consult your Physician and get evaluated.

Hope this helps.

Take care!

Regards.
