Does A Person Whose Heart Is Working Only 20% Need A Transplant?

my Son-in- law is 46years old and just had a 2nd heart attack, he has been on life support for 5days, they tell us only about 20 % of his heart is working. Can he live with this or will he need a heart transplant, i must add he is breathing on his own now and can sit in a chair, he is still in ICU

Hello,
Welcome to the HCM.
Dear if there is only 20 percent heart working then by pass surgery is the option.Heart transplant can be the option if by pass surgery can not be done and ,and matched donor is recieved. But the treating cardionlogist could be the best person to decide with detailed history and his reports.
Hopegully my answer will be helpfull.
