Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Does Acute Retroviral Syndrome Start At 10 Weeks After Exposure?
Can acute retroviral syndrome start 10 1/2 weeks after exposure and last for 9+ weeks. Symptoms were sore throat, low fever, swollen lymph nodes and fatigue at 10 1/2 weeks. 9+ weeks later and lymph nodes are swollen but have gone down and fatigue continues. Fourth generation test was negative at 14 days after last exposure. Waiting on new tests results. Have lots of anxiety and worry. It feels like mono I had in high school but not as severe.
Symptoms of ARS usually disappear within a week to a month and are often mistaken for those of another viral infection. I suggest to repeat the test after three months for further evaluation.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
