Does An Electrocardiogram Cause Bruises On The Chest?

I had an EKG done yesterday and last night bruises appeared on my chest. There are 12 circular bruises that are the same size ask the EKG pads. I doubt that they are related to the adhesive on the pads. The duration of the EKG was around 20 minutes. Could the bruises be related to the electrical pulse from the EKG/ECG? I just read online that sometimes the bruises from EKG do not go away. I am worried about this. If you want me to send a picture, my e-mail is YYYY@YYYY .jp Any information would be appreciated. Thanks

Hello,

Yes, these are due to chest leads from ECG. These may be due to an allergic reaction to the lead pad. There is no logic of current passing through leads as the machine operates on very low dc voltage. So relax. You may take some antiallergic as tablet levocetirizine two times and tablet ibuprofen two times for three days. As these are prescription drugs, please contact your local doctor he will prescribe these.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Varinder Joshi
