Does An Enema Affect The Nerves In The Neck?

Hi, I used Rugby ready to use enema several hours ago in preparation for prostate biopsy later this AM. My instructions were to take one the night before and one the morning of the biopsy. My wife assisted in this process. I felt immediate evacuation at the end of the first administration. However, a few hours later I woke up feeling like something was sticking to the right side of my neck. I attempted to rub it, but I could feel anything sticking to my neck. I immediately went into the bathroom and with a hand mirror looked for what was causing the problem. I found nothing. Since the sticking sensation is still there, I believe it is a nerve that s been affected. I am very skeptical of using this enema until I discuss this issue with my doctor later this AM. What s your take on this matter.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

No, enema can not cause sensations or nerve problems in neck or anywhere in the body.
The sensations of stickiness in neck is mostly due to dehydration.
Enema can cause dehydration by evacuating whole bowel contents.
So some patients do feel dehydration after enema.
So no need to worry much for this sticking sensation.
Just drink water and be relax.
You will be alright.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
