Does Antibiotics For Tooth Extraction Affect Fetus?

Hello Doctor, I am 6 weeks pregnant now and when I was around 2 weeks ( I did not know am pregnant), I got a molar tooth infection and I had to take antibiotics along with some other medicines prior to my tooth extraction. Will it affect the fetus? I am so worried about it?

Dental care during pregnancy is appropriate and sometimes absolutely necessary. I have done much counseling of patients regarding the common medications used for these procedures and the potential risks during a pregnancy. The typical pain medications, antibiotics and anesthetics (numbing medicines used during procedures) are all completely safe. I will say this generically, but I cannot give you a detailed answer without the names of the specific medications.
