Does Application Of Estriol Vaginal Gel Cause Abnormal Cell Growth In The Uterus?
I am taking estriol vaginal gel about two or three times a week - could this have caused me to have an abnormal cell growth in the opening of my uterus? The doctor is going to perform a cone biopsy to eradicate the tissue with the cells. The doctor said it is precancerous and should be removed promptly before they turn into cancerous cells. What could have caused the growth? Oh and I am 69 yrs. old, I was taking estriol for vaginal dryness and discomfort (during intercourseI) and vaginal atrophy . Oh - I am taking another product - Replens a vaginal cream that I insert before intercourse. Could all this have contributed to the growth of abnormal cells?
There are no studies that confirm that estradiol vaginal gel cause abnormal cells. One of the common causes of the abnormal cells is human papilloma virus.
So, I suggest to do an examination to check for the presence of this virus in the opening of the uterus.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
