Does Arterial Thrombosis In The Leg Need Surgery?

Hi i am 27 year old guy & i am having pain in my left leg below knee only when i walk for around 50-100 mtr. i cunsulted a orthopedic & he advised me doppler test which reports arterial thrombosis in my left leg. I showed this reports to a vascular surgeon & he is asking me to have a surgery for it,
so my question is does it really require a surgery or can it be cured by medicines also pl,ease advice me
