Does Bacterial Meningitis Affect The Immune System?

3 years ago I had major back surgery and contact bacterial meningitis. I was in ICU for 7 days out of it and then hospital for 2 month. Is your immune system affected by having that meningitis as I seem to pick up every flu bug in the world now and feel sick to my stomach for a few days. Thank you
