Does Bathing During Periods Cause Any Health Complication?

Hi, I have a friend who was told by her older female family members that she should not take a shower during her period!!! She lives in a muslim country and not sure if this is something to do with religion or culture, but I heard it for the first time in my life and find it quite disgusting. Im pretty sure it s s myth, but would like to hear your professional opinion. Many thanks! Sima

This is absolutely baseless and there is no scientific reason for it. This, like many other myths, maybe a social or cultural myth which should be discouraged.
