Does Being Overweight Cause Difficulty In Breathing?

I am overweight and drink alcohol 3 times a week. Used to smoke but have stopped nearly 3 years. I am 47! Usually exercise 3 times a week- cycle 5 - 10 miles. Do 30-40 minutes in gym. Cross trainer and weights. At the doctors feeling unwell and had a heartbeat of 43. Find it really hard to lose weight. If I try talking sometimes I get out of breath. Find it hard to run as I can t keep up regular breathing and get out of breath. Waiting on a hospital appointment to get heart checked

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

I agree that you should have your heart checked by examination and investigations that would include an ECG and possibly an echo as well to look at the heart function.

In addition assessment of your lung function and blood tests to check for anemia , which can also cause shortness of breath, may also be needed.

I hope this helps
