Does Benicar Usage Have Any Effect On Future Pregnancy?
My husband and I would like to try to have a baby soon. He takes Benicar. I know that this drug is not recommended during pregnancy but is there any chance it can cause birth defects if taken by my husband during conception or after I am pregnant during intercourse?

Hi,
Benicar is a drug to control blood pressure. Contraindication is for consumption by a pregnant or breast feeding woman... for the fetus would be in direct contact of mother's blood & the medicine too.
Benicar is not reported to decrease sperm count / activity / fetoxicity in male ... So there is no chance of any birth defects if the drug is taken by husband during conception / during intercourse in pregnancy.
