Does Birth Control Pills Cause Clots In The Throat?
My daughter just called me to say that she felt something in the back of her throat, she got it out and it was bright red blood. She went to the emergency they sent her for a CT, she has just started on birth control and they were questioning poumonary emboli. Ct is normal, but she still tastes blood today. Should we be concerned?
I read carefully your query and understand your concern.
Although birth control pills do not cause blood clots, most birth control pills do increase a woman's chance of developing a blood clot by about three to four times. I suggest to see an ENT specialist for further evaluation. An endoscopy should be done to check for the throat.
