Does Bleeding From Roof Of Mouth Require Medical Attention?

Hi--I was watching the morning news with breakfast and noticed a sensitive area in the roof of my mouth. I couldn't feel anything when I explored the area with my fingertips but then I started bleeding after that. My mouth filled with blood and I started spitting it out in the sink. I rinsed my mouth first with warm then cool water (thinking that something I had been eating caused a cut). The blood continued to flow so I used a paper towel and applied pressure to the area. The bleeding has lessened but I still don't know what caused it. Should I be going to the emergency room?

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your query, you have symptoms of bleeding from roof of mouth, which could be due to irritation due to any acidic or spicy food and ulcer due to acidic reflex. It could be due to extreme hot food substance. This is very common.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to avoid hot, spicy and acidic food substances for few days. You should consult oral pathologist for proper diagnosis. You should go for biopsy of lesion as well to find out exact cause and can start treatment as per that. Doctor may refer you to gastroenterologist as well. Drink plenty of fluids. Maintain oral hygiene. Do rinses with antiseptic mouthwash. Take multivitamin tablets as well.
