Does Blowing Nose Too Hard Cause Dizziness?

I m recuping from an upper respiratory infection, and have lots to cough up/blow out. This a.m. I was blowing and blowing, probably more ambitious that I should have been, then I immediately got extremely dizzy. The room was spinning, I almost fell down, got nauseous and sweaty. Quite disconcerting. My husband helped to get me lying down. Been over an hour. Much better now. Did I do this to myself by blowing my nose so much?

Hello,

Yes, while blowing there is reduced venous return to heart due to positive intra-thoracic pressure. It may further lead to decreased cardiac output. It may lead to reduce blood supply to brain which may lead to giddiness. Hence, avoid vigorous blowing of nose.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
