Does Brain Shunt Surgery Help To Regain Consciousness?

i am rajeswari my husband is in hospital 6 months initially he suffered with malaria and ards and after that he is unable to recognize us, but he is not in unconciolus stage. h e is opening his eyes and all parameters are also stable. recently we shifted him to bgl manipal hospital. they have done l.p and lumbar drain also on 2nd march. elasticity decreases nearly 75% but other improvement is not here recognising etc. n ow they want to do brain shunt.can we go for that ?is it a major sugery? with that consciousness will come?
