Does Burning Sensation After Sex Indicate Infection?

Recently i have had a burning sensation after having unprotected sex (I am on the pill and with my boyfriend of 2 years) it has only in the last couple of weeks started to sting after we have finished sex and afterwards i have a brownish coloured discharge? could i have an infection?

Hello,
Thanks for letting us know your health concern. In the current scenario, it is more likely that you could have one of the local causes like an erosion of the cervix, infections of the vagina/cervix and polyps of the cervix and the uterus. Please see a specialist for a complete evaluation and plan further management. You need a pap smear, swabs from the vagina and cervix, sonogram of the pelvis preferably in the trans-vaginal route and urinalysis. Your partner also may need to be tested and treated if necessary. Please maintain proper genital hygiene. Hope this helps.
